Being a fan of a number of the Repashy products, and using the ‘Bug Burger‘, ‘Veggie Burger‘, ‘Grasslands Grazer‘ and ‘Grub Pie‘ a fair bit within my feeding and gut-loading regimes, I was keen to have the chance to try this new product aimed at Bearded Dragons.

    Ingredients & Preparation

As with the rest of Repashy’s premix gel formulas, this comes in powder form. And this product is basically a mix of two popular Repashy products. Those being Grub Pie and Veggie Burger.

This was something Repashy trialed for a number of years after many people were mixing the 2 formulas on social media, and predominately feeding this custom mix to their bearded dragons. It was quite the success.

So Repashy decided to mix the two. With a little tweaking and taking away some ingredients, we now have this new ‘Beardie Buffet‘, which could appeal to keepers looking for the best prepared foods for bearded dragons.

    Beardie Buffet Ingredients

Black Soldier Fly Larvae, Pea Protein Isolate, Rice Protein Concentrate, Alfalfa Meal, Dandelion Flour, Carrot Powder, Motoring Leaf, Coconut Meal, Dried Potato, Hominy Feed, Dried Seaweed Meal, Cane Molasses, Calcium Carbonate, Lecithin, Locust Bean Gum, Citric Acid, Dried Kelp, Dried Watermelon, Rose-hips, Hibiscus Flower, Marigold Flower, Paprika, Algae Meal, Turmeric, Calcium Propionate and Potassium Sorbate (as preservatives), Natural Fruit Flavour, Rosemary Extract, Magnesium Amino Acid Chelate, Zinc Methionine Hydroxy Analogue Chelate, Manganese Methionine Hydroxy Analogue Chelate, Copper Methionine Hydroxy Analogue Chelate. Vitamins: (Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Calcium L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate, Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Beta Carotene, Pantothenic Acid, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex).

Guaranteed Analysis: Crude Protein min. 35%, Crude Fat min. 6%, Crude Fiber max. 6%, Moisture max. 8%, Ash max. 10%, Calcium min. 1.2%

    Preparation

All that is required in this mix is to add boiling water, stir, and microwave for about 30 to 50 seconds on full power. The ratio is stated to be 1 parts powder, 2/3 parts boiling water. But I’d definitely stick to the 2 parts water. I found with 3 parts it was slightly runny and took a lot longer to form the gel when cooled. But that’s perhaps me being slightly impatient 😉.

    Testing

This was never really going to be an issue with my current dragon, as she is a fantastic eater. And true to this statement, she ate this without any fuss whatsoever. Not much else I can say about the testing really, as it was faultless in the products palatability.

    Final Thoughts

Repashy has a diverse selection of products available, for a number of species and I have used a number of these for many many years. That’s not going to change any time soon. This Beardie Buffet product adds to that much-needed variety many keepers lack in what they provide in their captive diets for their dragons.

That being said, ingredient-wise, Arcadia Omni-Gold for me, will always come out on top here as my personal preference and I’ll still be using that for my dragon (as well as leopard gecko and chameleon as a live-food meal replacement, once a week).

I wouldn’t feel as confident doing this with the Repashy, just purely due to the ingredients not being as diverse and relevant as Omni Gold’s. For example, Arcadia Omni-Gold has bee-pollen and probiotic, as well as more insect and plant-based content.

But I have zero issues at all adding this Repashy Beardie Buffet product to my feeding regime for my dragon. She likes it, it’s easy to make and it’s healthy. This still equals a win in my book!
