Does your roommate “forget” to tell you about holiday plans?

    Hello. It’s Belinda.

It all started Tuesday afternoon during my nap.

My roommate was pulling a load of towels out of the dryer. I didn’t hear that part.

But then she slammed the dryer door. By the time I knew what happened I was wide awake and standing on all fours.

Come on. It was obvious I was sleeping.

Anyway I woke up grumpy. Which is not my fault.

I stood for a few minutes collecting my thoughts. Little Fang stared at me from inside her pen.

She knows how I feel about “clamor” when I’m trying to sleep.

Meanwhile my roommate was walking toward the steps, carrying the laundry basket. Suddenly she stopped and turned to me.

    Then she said it.

“What do you want to do for Thanksgiving, Belinda?”

    That’s all she said.

    She stood and waited.

First of all it’s not my job to plan the holidays. My job is to write spokesrabbit blogs and reports.

Also I thought we would do what we usually do on Thanksgiving.

Little Fang and I would have a relaxing day on the bottom level. Napping and gossiping and all that.

Meanwhile my roommate would “disappear” for several hours in the afternoon and evening.

If she stays home, we’ll all eat extra-large salads together. Or I’ll join my roommate in the living room for an old-timey movie.

Not sure what the English will do. Not my concern.

My roommate was still waiting for me to respond when I turned my back and started grooming my ears. It’s what I do to get out of “situations.”

    It worked.

“Well think about it Belinda,” she said.

“And let me know what the three of you want for Thanksgiving dinner.”

That was the end of it. She turned and walked upstairs to the kitchen.

    So there you go.

Two “projects” sprung on me by the humans. Out of nowhere.

Last week the big boss asked me to research what rabbits want for the holidays.

Many of you shared your ideas in the comments or in email.  I want to thank you for all the help. I hope to have some news on this soon.

    And now this. “Holiday planning.”

Anyway that’s enough complaining. I told you I was grumpy.

Now I want to “switch gears” to something fun.

Last year, the week before Thanksgiving, I wrote a co-blog with a stray rabbit named Eleanor.

Actually she wasn’t a stray rabbit when we wrote the blog together.

I hope you have a few minutes to read it and enjoy the photos. I’m grateful that so many humans help stray rabbits like Eleanor.

“Once upon a time” I was living outdoors too. It’s for the birds in my opinion.

    Wild birds.

OK that’s all for now. I have to go look up salad recipes.

Speaking of all that. Do you have plans for Thanksgiving?

Whatever you do for the holiday, I hope it’s a happy one.

    Sincerely,

    Belinda
