Spring Cleaning the Piggy Palace: Gizmo’s Fresh Start! | Small Pet Select Blogs

    Hay friends!

    Guess what?

Big Momma says it’s time for our annual spring palace reset. That means I get gently moved to my “Spring Break Suite” (also known as a cozy playpen with snacks) while she works her cleaning magic.

Sometimes she sits with me for a minute first, giving me a little cuddle and telling me I’m a good boy. That part might be my favorite.

It’s like a little spring vacation for me. Then I get to return home to a fresh, fluffy, squeaky-clean palace.

Here’s how spring cleaning works around here:

    1. Out with the Old

Once I’m settled, Big Momma gets to work removing all my bedding, leftover hay, and anything that’s seen better days.

Now, I’ll be honest. I do my part to keep things interesting in there!

That’s why Big Momma quickly tidies up every day. She clears out the damp spots, refreshes my hay, and makes sure everything stays comfortable.

But this spring clean? This is the big one. The full reset.

    2. Scrub-a-Dub (Piggy Safe Only!)

Next comes the deep clean. Cages, castles, food and water bowls, toys. All of it gets cleaned.

Big Momma wipes everything down using gentle, piggy-safe cleaners, like a vinegar and water mix. That keeps things fresh without harmful chemicals or super strong smells.

You can tell ths is a serious clean because she takes everything outside to hose it down. Everything gets thoroughly rinsed, wiped, and left to dry completely before I can move back in. No shortcuts when it comes to piggy comfort.

    3. Fresh Start, Fresh Bedding

    Now for the fluffiest part.

Big Momma rebuilds my palace with super soft, clean bedding that’s perfect for burrowing, foraging, and sleeping. Lately she’s been using Premium Brown Paper Bedding from Small Pet Select.

She says it’s ultra-absorbent. I just know it keeps me dry and comfy. Big Momma also told me it’s low-dust, which my little nose really appreciates. And it’s soft enough that I can settle right in without a second thought.

    4. The Grand Reopening

Once everything is clean, dry, and perfectly arranged, Big Momma brings me back in.

And yes, I do a full inspection, sniffing every corner and all my favorite spots. Then, if everything meets my standards, I popcorn! A lot.

    Why Deep Cleaning Matters

Did you know that for piggies like me, having a clean place to live helps us feel safe?

The little daily clean-ups keep things comfortable and predictable. The deeper weekly cleans make everything feel fresh again. For major resets like this one, I sometimes even get brand new spanking clean accessories!

Combine that with gentle handling, soft voices, and a little extra attention?Something really special happens! We relax, trust, and feel at home.

Because when a piggy’s space feels safe and cared for, everything else falls into place.

Wishing you your very own fresh start!
