Sometimes the best holiday gift is a little peace and quiet

    Hello. It’s Belinda.

I’m dreaming of a quiet Christmas.
Hushed, as if burrowed under snow.
    After gift time, napping
    On the torn-up wrapping,
The heat turned up, the lights turned low.

    I hope it’s a polite Christmas.
And others leave my stash alone.
    The English, for example
    Doesn’t need to sample
My treats. He has plenty of his own.

I’d like to have a calm Christmas.
No plans. We just go with the flow.
    Little Fang’s pen tidy,
    She’ll relax in her hidey.
No whispering or giggling with her “beau.”

Can my roommate stand a quiet Christmas?
No “clomping” up, down, to and fro.
    A perfect day for eating
    And lounging, reading,
And couch time with her favorite show.

I hope you have a quiet Christmas.
If that’s how you want it to go.
May your days be all that you wish.
And may all your Christmases be “shhhh.”

    Happy Holidays!

    Sincerely,

    Belinda
