Is it cold where you live?
It’s super cold here.
I’m writing this on Thursday and there’s a big storm coming this weekend. My roommate said the temperature might “go below zero.”
That’s too cold in my opinion.
Come on.
And that brings me to a little “misadventure” I had yesterday.
It all started with last week’s blog when I mentioned where my friend Poppy sleeps.
I wrote that “Poppy also snoozes under the table by the front door to smell the outside air coming under the door.”
I thought that was such a good idea that I decided to try it myself.
And the whole thing went “sideways” so I thought I’d warn you. Just in case you want to try it too.
As you might know, Little Fang, the English and I live on the bottom level of the house. My roommate calls it our “burrow.”
But it’s not a burrow. It’s a big room with a furnace, washing machine, utility sink, dryer and window on one side.
On the other side, Little Fang and the English hang out in big exercise pens. When I say big I mean “ginormous.”
Over in the corner you’ll find the steps that go up to the kitchen. And also a heavy door that leads to the yard outside.
That’s the door I wanted to use to try out Poppy’s fresh air trick.
But there was only one problem.
My roommate keeps a heavy stuffed tube up against the bottom of the door. Sort of a fat “snake” made out of cloth.
I think it’s some sort of decoration.
Last night, after dinner, I waited until I heard my roommate stop moving around upstairs. That meant she was on the couch, watching her shows.
Time for me to enjoy some outside air.
I made my way across the room and put my front paws on the “stuffed snake” resting against the bottom of the door.
I dug and dug at it. Rolled it behind me.
Which was fun if you want to know the truth.
The good news is my plan worked. Immediately after I got that tube out of the way, a “gust” of air blew under the door.
It smelled so nice. Poppy knows that I’m talking about.
I let it hit my whiskers too.
After a few minutes of air sniffing, I “retired” to my sleeping rug. All that fresh air made me sleepy.
I had nodded off for about 10 minutes when it started.
“Hey!”
Oh brother.
“Hey!”
It was Little Fang.
I stood and turned to her.
What do you want?
“I’m cold. There’s a draft blowing on my hidey house.”
I didn’t know what to do.
“I’m also cold.”
It was the English.
Then he said it.
“You broke the door.”
I thumped and glared at him.
I did not break the door!
“Why did you break the door?”
That was Little Fang again.
Enough was enough.
If you want to know if I pushed the big stuffed snake back in place, the answer is yes.
Poppy, if you are reading this, I want you to know that I tried.
