Last week’s blog was just for fun. The whole thing was photos you sent to me.
I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did.
Today we are covering a serious topic.
My roommate keeps nagging me to write about it and she’s right.
Too many rabbits are getting sick. I need to help them and their humans.
So to start off, I want you to do me a favor.
Find your rabbit. Take a good look at them.
Does their fur look like this?
I’m not proud of the way I look here.
And right after my roommate took this photo, she started “plucking” those fur puffs.
I also had to sit still for a “good brushing.”
I’m not a fan. I will tell you that right now.
But that fur had to go.
Tell your rabbit that.
“Extra fur has to go.”
And by that I mean go into the garbage. Not into their bellies.
I wrote about this a few weeks ago in a blog called “Are You Shedding?”
You might want to read it to your rabbit.
It’s getting hotter every week. Fur is coming loose.
And if rabbits have fur “puffing out,” they are going to feel itchy.
I just want to get it off me. So I stretch around and groom my sides and lower back.
It tastes terrible. It tastes like fur.
When my roommate notices, she gets out the brushes and combs.
I don’t like to be groomed. She doesn’t do it right.
But it’s better to just get it over with.
And that’s what I’m begging rabbits with this blog.
Just let your roommate groom you.
Why?
Because if you get fur into your stomach, you can get “gastrointestinal stasis.”
Also called “GI Stasis.”
It makes you feel yucky. Then you won’t want to eat. And the longer you don’t eat, the sicker you get.
So sit still and let your roommate comb, brush or pluck the fur off you.
Don’t let it become an emergency.
