Gizmo: “I’m Bored!” Fun Ways Humans Keep Guinea Pigs Busy | Small Pet Select Blogs

    Hay friends!

Are you having a fun summer?

I know Little Momma was excited about free time, sleeping late, and spending her days in the sun. Still, I’d bet my haystack it won’t be long before I hear her say what most kids eventually do: “I’m bored!”

    Guess what?

I know exactly how they feel.

Not because I’m bored right now, of course. I have hay to eat, chews to inspect, and important naps to take! But even the best snackers can get a little restless when every day feels the same.

Thankfully, Big Momma is great at making sure I always have something interesting to explore, chew, sniff, climb through, or investigate.

After years of dedicated research (and lots of professional snack breaks), I’ve become something of an expert.

To help you, I’ve compiled a special list of my favorite boredom busters. I bet they’ll work for your piggy pals, too!

Gizmo’s Best Bets for Beating Boredom

    1. Give Me Something Safe to Chew

Chewing is more than just one of my favorite hobbies. It’s key to keeping me healthy!

See, my teeth never stop growing, so I need safe things to chew every day to help keep them worn down.

Now, I’m happy to chew on just about anything. Big Momma, on the other hand, makes sure I only get piggy-safe options like Tiny Paws natural chew toys. She likes them because they’re made with natural materials I can safely nibble. I love them because, well, they make me happy!

Big Momma’s Bonus Tip: Rotate chew toys every few days. When an old favorite comes back, it’s almost like getting a brand-new toy!

    2. Turn Snack Time into a Treasure Hunt

Sure, I like snacks. But you know what’s even more exciting?

    Finding snacks!

Sometimes Big Momma hides little pieces of my favorite veggies around my habitat, tucks them into my hay, or even hides them in my special wooden-lid puzzle. I have to sniff them out all by myself. It makes snack time last longer and gives my nose a fun workout.

    3. Rearrange My Habitat

Have you ever walked into your room and decided to move all your furniture around? (Or is that just Big Momma?)

When she moves my tunnel, hidey house, or toys to different spots, suddenly my habitat feels brand new! I can’t wait to explore every inch to see what’s changed.

    4. Make Time for New Adventures

I love exploring outside my habitat during supervised floor or outside pen time.

There are new smells to investigate, new places for zoomies, and even new snacks!

Sometimes Big Momma even builds obstacle courses with cardboard boxes and paper bags.

    Every adventure is different!

    5. Spend Time Together

You know what makes me happiest?

    Spending time with my people.

Whether Little Momma is hand-feeding me veggies or Big Momma is talking to me while she cleans my habitat, I love being part of the family.

Often, the best enrichment isn’t a toy at all. It’s time together.

Speaking of which, I think Little Momma is looking for something to do. Maybe I’ll let her watch me play with my new toys!

    Stay busy!

    Love,

    Gizmo
