    Hello. It’s Belinda.

Do the rabbits and roommates in your house like herbs?
I’m a big fan of parsley. Cilantro too.

Little Fang loves mint. She likes just about all herbs to tell you the truth.

Most of all I like dried herbs and flowers mixed into an herbal blend.

    That’s right. I’m talking about Belinda’s Blend.

That’s my “mug” on the bag.

But the best part is inside.

That’s chamomile, red clover, rose petals, dandelion leaves, lavender, hibiscus and elderflower. It smells so good.

My roommate likes to sprinkle it on our hay. It’s fun.

And this is exactly what I was eating the other night when the “incident” happened.

The whole thing started about an hour after sundown. I was relaxing on my sleeping rug with some second cut timothy hay. I worked extra hard that day so I was sleepy.

My roommate was “making the rounds,” refilling our water bowls and such. When she stopped by my rug, she tossed a little Belinda’s Blend onto my hay pile.

“And how is everything so far, madam?”

My roommate was speaking with an “accent.” Acting like we were in a fancy restaurant.

I told her to give my compliments to the chef. I said it “in my mind.”

My roommate walked to Little Fang’s pen and stepped inside. She started tidying up some of the you-know-what. Poor Little Fang has a weak bladder.

Anyway as I ate the Belinda’s Blend I suddenly remembered a restaurant I went to with my roommate, Little Fang and the English.

It was a very fancy hay restaurant.

Half of the restaurant was “all you can chew.” The owners served a huge stack of hay in the middle of the room, on the floor. With orchard and all three cuts of timothy and oat.

Plus alfalfa for the “little ones.” You know I helped myself to that alfalfa too.

Nobody scolded me. I was too sneaky.

Anyway that was just half of the restaurant. The other half featured a huge room with 20 double exercise pens set up against the four walls.

You could sit inside your own pen and eat your hay in peace.

Little Fang and I took one. My roommate and the English sat in a second pen. My roommate had to sit on the floor. She didn’t mind.

The servers kept the bowls filled to the brim with filtered water. They brought a big glass of water and a salad for my roommate. Which was nice.

I ordered the “Hay of the Day” special. I’m not sure what it cost but it was a bargain in my opinion.

As I thought back to our special restaurant outing, I couldn’t remember the name of the place. So I turned my head to ask Little Fang if she remembered.

But here’s the funny thing. When I looked toward Little Fang the whole room was dark.

My roommate was nowhere in sight. And both Little Fang and the English were so quiet I knew they were asleep.

The side of my face was covered in herbal mix. Turned out I dozed off mid-chew.

The “hay restaurant” was just a dream.

I still want to know what it was called.

If you have any guesses, send them to belinda@smallpetselect.com.

    Sincerely,

    Belinda
