Chapter 95 – Bun of the Month
The parade of ten rabbit models began at noon. Bun-by-bun, they arrived at the House of Buns to have their portrait taken for the 2026 rabbit calendar. New this year, Dad offered bun parents the opportunity to have their rabbit featured in the calendar in exchange for a donation to The Rabbit Haven. He was grateful for the number of bun parents who took him up on the “Bun of the Month” offer.
Dad carefully selected backdrop colors to complement each rabbit and show them at their best. Just like when he photographed adoption rabbits, some “hit the deck” running and began exploring “the set” right away, while others were cautious about this new situation and took time to relax.
Later in the evening, after all the photos were “in the can,” came the tough part of reviewing the hundreds of photos and choosing the best one for each rabbit. It was tough to choose. Dad enlisted Enzo’s help. After all, a bunny should know what looks cutest. “Enzo,” he asked, “Which is better? This shot?” then he switched the photo, “Or this shot?” Enzo thought, “Dat one!”
Dad filled out the rest of the months with some photos he had saved from previous rabbit portrait photoshoots. A gray foster rabbit named Damari, sitting on a purple background, looked striking and won the coveted cover spot. His favorite bun model, Tessa, looked cute in her Santa hat and was Miss December. Kabuki, sticking out his tongue while sitting amongst the pumpkins, was the October Halloween rabbit.
With twelve beautiful rabbit photos, the calendar was ready. Dad uploaded it to the website and it was ready for sale at: https://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/3209948. Profits from the sale of the calendars go to help The Rabbit Haven pay the numerous medical bills of rescued rabbits.
Enzo was pleased. He thought, “Good job, Dad. Dat look good!”
